AbstractIn this paper, we propose an interactive method based on smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) to simulate the interactions between contrast medium and vessel wall in virtual vascular interventional radiology. SPH is mainly used to simulate free-surface such as water waves, less application in physiological fluids. Now we employ the method for contrast medium flowing in 3D vasculatures simulation by deriving the force density fields from Navier-Stokes equation. To achieve more realistic velocity distribution in vessels, we model a force term produced by the vascular centerline as driving force. Results demonstrate that the proposed model fit for simulating the propagation of contrast medium in vessels.
